1.Pre-operation in Rufford Ward. Dr. Farquhar explained every step of the anaesthetic procedure and its purpose in clear and understandable detail, and was prepared to listen and answer any questions. His manner was confident , also approachable and friendly. 2Op.Theatre Anaesthetic Room. Mainly as above, but on practical level proved to be a master of his craft and at the same time held the interest of the patient of utmost importance. After operation in Rufford Ward.Dr. Farquhar returned to the ward later to discuss aftercare and any potential problems and their solutions. All in all a very positive experience, Dr. Farquhar instills complete confidence for a successful outcome, he is a credit to his profession.

I was very anxious prior to my operation about certain issues, espcially realting to the anesthetic, and Dr Farquhar was not patronising, addressed my concerns and his reassruing and friendly, warm manner helped relax me. As I was waiting to go into theatre he came out pushing his previous patient on a trolley - he saw me and smiled and gave me a thumbs up. Such a simple gesture, but it meant he 'recognised' me, remembered my fears and thus felt I was more than a number on a production line. Possibly silly, but I woner if doctors get tired and so if I am later in the queue than they may not take as much care or make mistakes - the fact that he seemed energetic and responsed empathically to me allayed these fears.

Dr Iain Farquhar, has a very calming manner that put my wife at ease. He explained carefully to her what to expect as she entered the theatre area and what he would be doing. He visited her after recovery in the ward to check how she was, and gave advice on pain control and any after affects she could expect from the anaesthetic. The impression Dr Iain Farquhar left with my wife was how professional and caring he is.

Very, very good, explained everything that was going to happen during surgery and was helpful assisting getting on to the bed and off. He was approachable and answered any questions or concerns I had.
